The Sudbury Action Centre for Youth (SACY) is closing at the end of March.

(Alana Everson/CTV News Northern Ontario)The agency located on Pine Street offered an overnight shelter for youth and many services and supports for people ages 16-24 including a food bank. The agency also offered certain supports for anyone in need.

In a news release, the board of directors said it has made the difficult decision to close the agency.

"While there are temporary solutions that allow us to continue to serve the community, due to financial pressures, the closure of the agency is presently inevitable," reads the release.

"We anticipate being able to continue offering services until March 31."

No one from the board was available to speak with CTV News on Wednesday.

The centre’s youth drop-in services had been closed since a sewer backup earlier this year.

SACY said it will give more details about the closure this Friday and that information will act as a final closing statement for the agency.
