SUDBURY -- Public health officials in Sudbury are reporting an outbreak at Sudbury's Finlandia Village nursing home after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Officials say the Sudbury woman in her 30s is now in self-isolation and was tested on May 6 as part of the province's targeted surveillance of long-term care homes.
In a statement released late Sunday afternoon, Finlandia Village has confirmed that the woman works in the administration department in the Lepokoti Apartment building and has had no direct contact with residents.
"The employee who tested positive is asymptomatic and is now self-isolating at home under the direction of public health. We are pleased to note all residents in the Hoivakoti Nursing Home tested negative for COVID-19," said CEO David Munch in the statement.
Hoivakoti Nursing Home is one of the six resident accommodation units found within Finlandia Village.
Health officials have reported a total of 61 positive of cases of COVID-19 in Sudbury.
