Update 2:

The victim in Tuesday's fiery crash on Highway 11 involving two commercial vehicles has been identified.

Ontario Provinical Police, with the help Office of the Chief Coroner, say 30-year-old Kevin Chenier of North Bay lost his life in the incident.

Police say the investigation is complete and no charges will be laid. 

Update:

After being closed for 12 hours, Highway 11 was opened around 4 am Wednesday.

Police say one person is dead as a result of the crash.

Ontario Provincial Police say there was a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 11 late Tuesday afternoon that closed the highway north of Englehart

Reports say the collision happened when a tractor trailer collided with a cube van near Chamberlain Road 3.  The crash caused the two vehicles to catch fire. 

The closure affects both directions of traffic and the time of reopening is still unknown.

No word on injuries

New detours are:

  • Northbound traffic should take Highway 65 west near Temiskaming Shores, then Highway 66 north back to HIghway 11
  • Southbound traffic should take Highway 66 west at Kenogami to Highway 65, then east to Highway 11.

Further information will be released as it becomes available.

Original detours were:

  • Heading northbound on Hwy 11, take 560 west to Charlton and then 573 north
  • Southbound traffic, take 573 south to Charlton and then 560 east
