Two suspects from southern Ontario have been charged after police in Kenora, Ont., made a major drug bust on Labour Day.

The suspects, ages 20 and 23, are both from Brampton. They were arrested during a traffic stop Sept. 2 by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police seized "a large quantity of fentanyl with a street value of approximately $400,000," the OPP said in a news release Thursday.

On Sept. 2, as a result of an investigation led by the Ontario

The two occupants in the vehicle were charged with drug-related offences, including trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

"The OPP is committed to pursuing those who are trafficking illegal drugs to vulnerable members of our communities and this enforcement significantly disrupts in the drug supply in Kenora and the surrounding communities," OPP Insp. Jeffrey P. Duggan, the detachment commander in Kenora, is quoted as saying in the release.

"The fentanyl seized is believed to have been destined for Kenora and the surrounding communities," police said.

"Short-term rental facilities can be used in the offence of drug trafficking. If you are a landlord and suspect drug trafficking is taking place within a property you manage, please contact the OPP."
