ORIGINAL -

As the deep freeze continues, all of northern Ontario is under an extreme cold warning for Monday, January 28.

Environment Canada says that the temperature will continue in the -40 to -50 range due to the wind chill throughout the morning.

School bus transportation was cancelled because of these bitterly cold temperatures, but many schools remain open.

Secondary schools in the Sudbury District and Manitoulin Island that had exams scheduled for today are rescheduling them for later in the week.

An official from the Rainbow District School Board says exam dates will not be extended past Thursday, January 31st. Parents and students are advised to check their school's website for the revised exam schedule.

A cloud cover is expected to develop to help moderate the temperatures into the afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to continue to be below seasonal throughout the rest of the week.

Environment Canada says wind chill values will fall to -40 to -45 northwest of Lake Superior and -35 to -40 in areas east of Lake Superior.

If you must be outside, dress warmly in layers, with a wind resistant outer layer.
