Extreme cold alerts issued for northern Ontario
Environment Canada has issued weather alerts for much of northern Ontario.

EXTREME COLD WARNING
The deep freeze in the north continues and is expected to last into Monday morning for most areas, Environment Canada said.
Minimum temperatures are expected to drop to -40°C and even -45°C with the wind chill in some areas Saturday evening.

"Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter," Environment Canada said.
"Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill."
Officials said to watch for cold-related symptoms, such as; shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness or colour change in fingers and toes.
“If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside,” said Environment Canada.
