Travellers at the Greater Sudbury Airport will notice a heavy presence of emergency personnel on Wednesday, but airport officials say not to be alarmed.

It's all part of the testing of airport emergency protocols and will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The exercises are happeneing in several locations around the facility.

Passengers can expect to see volunteers, emergency vehicles, airport equipment, and personnel both inside and outside of the airport. Local emergency crews will also be taking part.

Airport officials say theatrical props and actors may be visible, but the exercises will not impact regular operations.

The airport runs one full-scale emergency exercise every four years and one table top exercise ever year in order to test protocols, procedures, communications and planning for emergency and/or security related incidents.
