SUDBURY -- A 75-year-old Elliot Lake man is facing charges after the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police responded to a fraud-related call Sept. 17 at a residence on Taylor Boulevard in Elliot Lake.
"The complainant reported that a cheque was fraudulently written for the amount of $19,000," police said in a news relase. "A signature forged and was payable to a known person to the complainant."
The man has been charged with theft more than $5,000 and forgery. He's scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Nov. 3.
