A northern Ontario man is charged with criminal harassment due to threatening conduct toward a neighbour in Elliot Lake following an alleged 'road rage' incident.

Police received a complaint Thursday that a man from Mississauga Avenue followed the neighbour in their vehicle and flipped them off before dangerously passing them on the road in front of the English high school.

"The neighbour continued to harass the complainant by following them to a grocery store parking lot where he verbally berated them," Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Friday.

When officers went to the suspect's house, they said he was "very uncooperative" and "refused to listen to reason or simple instructions."

"A short altercation ensued, but police were able to safely make an arrest," OPP said.

The 42-year-old male is also charged with resisting a peace officer and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 12.
