A 19-year-old from Elliot Lake was charged with careless driving after a rollover involving a pickup truck Saturday night.

Officers were called to the scene on Nordic Mine Road just south of Elliot Lake around 6:45 p.m. Nov. 2 and found a grey pickup on its roof, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

"The driver sustained minor injuries and the two passengers were uninjured," OPP said.

"The vehicle was towed and driver charged."

The provincial offence has not been proven in court.

If convicted, the penalties for careless driving include a fine between $490 and $2,000, six demerit points, licence suspension and/or possible jail time.

Other consequences of a careless driving conviction include an increase in insurance costs and potentially impact employment for some drivers.
