Elliot Lake fire destroys building, businesses impacted
Another early morning fire on Friday has resulted in major damage in northern Ontario.

Elliot Lake fire crews were called to a multi-unit building on Fox Drive just after 6 a.m. on April 12.
“Upon arrival on-scene, the fire department crew reported heavy smoke and flames showing from one multi-unit building,” city officials said in a news release.
“Due to extreme fire conditions, firefighters were pulled out of the building to focus on an exterior attack.”
Officials said that the fire burned until about 2 p.m.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.
Officials said three businesses have been impacted by the blaze.

“At this time, there is no cost estimate for damages,” said Fire Chief John Thomas, in the news release.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.
Officials have not released any details on the cause of the fire.
Another fire in northeastern Ontario, in Kirkland Lake, on Friday destroyed two residential buildings.
