CTV News reached out to Vale about Monday night's earthquake.

Ryan Land is the manager of corporate and Indigenous affairs for Vale's Manitoba and Ontario operations.

"At this time we are unable to confirm that there is a relation between the seismic activity registered last evening and mining activities at Vale." said Land in a statement to CTV News.

Earthquakes Canada has confirmed an earthquake occurred in the Greater Sudbury area on Monday evening.

It happened about six kilometres east of Sudbury at 5:22 pm March 18. 

According to Earthquakes Canada, no damages have been reported and none would be expected with this size of seismic activity.

Back in early February, there were two mining related earthquakes that registered 2.9 and 3.6 in magnitude.
