SUDBURY -- This year, the Dynamic Earth "Spooktacular" event in Sudbury will move outdoors due to COVID-19.

The goal is to ensure organizers can still bring the Halloween spirit to guests.

"It was so good to be able to do this," said Dynamic Earth staff member Julie Moskalyk.

"It’s outdoors. The path is large enough that everyone can safely distance. We have all our safety measures in place so its wonderful that we are able to offer our regular Halloween experience for our visitors in a safe and fun way."

With the focus on the safety of guests and staff, Dynamic Earth has added new rules including: all guests must wear a mask - both inside and outside, tickets must be bought in advance, and guests can only stay for one hour in order to limit the number of people attending at one time.

"Following what public health is telling us to follow. That has been top of mind throughout the entire summer," said Dynamic Earth Senior Staff Scientist Jennifer Beaudry.

"So making sure we are keeping things safe for everybody is critical."

The popular “tunnel of terror” is not a part of this years festivities due to the fact it takes place underground.

All activities are outdoors, with social distancing measures in place.

“This is not our normal Halloween event, but it’s a part of our Halloween event and that means a lot to everybody,” added Beaudry.

"Seeing the kids laughing and smiling, pointing at the pumpkins and just the joy, it is so nice to be able to offer some sense of normalcy in these very different times."

Visitors have every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until Oct. 30 to take in all the Halloween festivities.
