Two Sturgeon Falls residents are charged with weapon and drug-related offences following a traffic stop early Saturday morning, police say.

Responding to a complaint about a suspected impaired driver on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls shortly before 5 a.m. May 4, police pulled a 24-year-old woman over.

"A search of the vehicle located an air pistol, drug paraphernalia and drugs suspected to be cannabis, fentanyl and methamphetamine," police said in a news release Tuesday.

"As a result of the investigation, two people were arrested."

The driver and a 28-year-old passenger are both charged with having an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, having a Schedule I substance and a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The driver is also charged with driving with cannabis readily available.

Both of the accused were released and scheduled to appear in court June 6 in North Bay.
