Drug trafficking suspect arrested in northern Ont. hotel room

A joint investigation with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police ended this week in a raid of a hotel room in Hearst, Ont.

Police executed a search warrant shortly before 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21 at a hotel room on George Street in Hearst.

“During the investigation, police seized drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, hydromorphone and a quantity of Canadian currency,” the OPP said in a news release Thursday.

The total value of the seizure was estimated to be $16,250.

A 34-year-old resident of Hearst is charged with trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The accused remains in custody awaiting an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Hearst.
