Drug bust east of Kirkland Lake leads to charges

Ontario Provincial Police have charged two people after executing a search warrant at a Barkley Avenue residence Wednesday in Kerns, located east of Kirkland Lake.

Police said in a news release Thursday officers seized cash and drugs estimated to be worth more than  $41, 000.

Drugs found by police include crystal methamphetamine, MDMA, crack cocaine, cocaine, opioids including fentanyl, and psilocybin mushrooms.

A 50-year old individual from Kerns, and a 23-year old person from Kirkland Lake now face the following charges:

•             Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine.

•             Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.

•             Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – MDMA.

•             Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid. Two counts.

•             Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking – psilocybin.

•             Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

 

The individuals are scheduled to appear in court in Kirkland Lake on January 27, 2022.
