SUDBURY -- OPP say an 18-year-old from eastern Ontario has been charged in a fatal crash last Oct. that killed a 74-year-old man from Timmins.

The two-vehicle collision happened on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019 at around 4:45 p.m. on Hwy. 17 in East Ferris Township, near North Bay.

Police say a vehicle containing two people was travelling west when it collided with another vehicle, containing four people, travelling east.

As a result, a passenger in the eastbound vehicle, a Timmins man, died at the scene and three others were seriously injured.

The highway was closed for five hours following the incident.

Now, an 18-year-old woman from Kemptville, Ont. has been charged with:

• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death

• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm (three counts)

The accused has been released on an appearance notice and is scheduled for court in North Bay on Feb. 4.
