Last week, CTV News reported that the recently opened Damascus Bakery in downtown Sudbury had been the victim of vandalism.

The bakery is run by a Syrian refugee family that arrived in Sudbury just over two years ago.

Police say they believe an air gun or BB gun was used to fire holes in the baker’s window.

It is now being reported that several downtown Sudbury businesses are pitching in to help cover the cost to replace the window where seven small bullet holes were found.

The total cost of the new window is said to be $750.

Peddler’s Pub has offered to pay half of the cost and is encouraging other businesses to chip in.

Fuel Multimedia, The Laughing Buddha and The Spa at 61 Elm have each contributed $50.

If you would like to contribute, the owner of Peddler’s Pub, Dennis Gainer, is collecting the donations.

He can be reached at 705-669-1075 or by stopping by the pub.

Gainer has said the outpouring of support has exceeded the original ask and now will be looking into helping with other additional work to help improve the facility.

More details to come Wednesday.
