The new building provides social housing, Ontario Works, community paramedicine and children’s services under one roof.

“Before we were in this building, we had three separate buildings in Sault Ste. Marie where we serviced our clients,” said DSSMSSAB chair Stephanie Hopkin.

"Today, we’re moving into one centralized building, where we will service our clients out of one location.”

“It means they’ll only have to tell their story once, versus trying to tell their story three or four times,” said Mike Nadeau, the DSSMSSAB's CEO.

“It really should make a difference and help people to navigate the social services delivery world a little easier.”

Nadeau said the move into the new building, from concept to construction, has been ten years in the making.

The new building at 548 Albert Street East will be ready to accept clients on April 9.
