Update:

MNRF officials say they attempted to locate the distressed deer in West Ferris Wednesday evening, but were unsuccessful.

A wildlife camera has been put up to track the deer and determine a pattern.

Based on MNRF staff observations, the deer’s movements are not being hindered at this time, the animal is able to eat, drink, and run.

The MNRF says the risks associated with tranquilizing the deer have increased with the current heat wave, so they will not attempt to capture the animal now.  They will re-evaluate the situation once the weather conditions are better to tranquilize.

Officials with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are trying once again to capture and tranquilize a deer in the West Ferris area of North Bay.

The deer's been spotted in the city around Balmoral Crescent with a band wrapped around its stomach.

And, that's caused concern for neighbours like Tracy Sloan who sent us some pictures.

The MNRF says it hopes to sedate the animal and remove the band before releasing it to recover on its own.
