SUDBURY -- In a news release Tuesday evening, the Porcupine Health Unit issued an alert to anyone in Timmins who had visited local restaurant Toujours Mikes.

“Through our investigation, we have learned that there may have been potential exposure to patrons of Mikes restaurant in Timmins on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.,” said Dr. Lianne Catton, medical officer of Health, in the release.

The health unit said exposure to the public is considered low risk.

"However, as a precaution, we are asking individuals who were at the restaurant during this time to self-monitor for 14 days, which ends on Friday, Oct. 9," the release said. "If you were at the restaurant and are experiencing symptoms, self-isolate at home and call the Porcupine Health Unit COVID-19 information line at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818.”

The health unit is working with Mikes restaurant, "who remain dedicated to the measures to protect both patrons and staff," the release said.

"Ongoing precautions will continue to be taken by management, staff, and patrons to reduce the risk of infection and prevent the transmission of COVID-19."
