Finalists for CTV's Best in Short Films gathered at Cinefest on the evening of September 21.

CTV's own Ian Campbell was asked to be a juror this year and was on-hand to speak to the crowd and hand out awards.

The big winner of the evening was Ed Regan for his film 'Live.Love.Laugh', produced by the Anishinabek Nation.

The film profiles a Sudbury Indigenous woman living with HIV.

"Dawn lives in Sudbury, so we travelled here to capture her story and we went to some of the locations that she felt comfortable with. The film takes on a cinematic approach of following her around and letting her tell her story, while seeing her in the community and public places," said Regan.

Cinefest wraps up on September 22 with the gala presentation of 'Judy', a film that profiles the iconic actor and singer Judy Garland.
