SUDBURY -- Two men charged in connection with the first two murders in Sudbury this year are expected to appear in court Thursday by video remand.

The men, who have now been identified, are charged in two separate fatal incidents this month.

The 51-year-old man charged with first-degree murder in connection with a handgun shooting in Hanmer on July 12 has been identified as Michael Marois.

Denis Richer, 48, has been identified as the suspect in what was originally an assault case from a July 1 incident. Richer was originally charged with attempted murder, but Monday, that charge was upgraded to murder after the 45-year-old male victim died in hospital from his injuries over the weekend.

Both court appearances on Thursday are to set a date.
