Consultant releases final report on Living Space shelter
Toronto-based consultant Third Party Public has released its final report outlining people’s thoughts and concerns around the Living Space shelter in Timmins, its location and its level of service.
The report detailed 17 issues residents have with the Living Space shelter and the overall handling of homelessness and addiction in the city along with 36 possible solutions.
The full report can be viewed here.
The consultant highlighted in its report that the shelter’s location ended up playing a minor role in the overall review — and that the process brought to light for the first time a list of issues and desired solutions.
“What I think we’ve got here, is a very strong message to the CDSSAB (Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board,) to Living Space, but also to all of the other main actors here — the police, CMHA, the hospital, the health unit, even the City of Timmins — to take a serious look at what’s here,” said Nicole Swerhun of Third Party Public.
“You’ve got a whole constituency of folks, who are going to watch and make sure that things happen and I think that’s one of the good outcomes of the review.”
