Work is set to begin next week on the $30 million Francophone arts and cultural centre being built in downtown Sudbury

Shovels will be in the ground starting next Tuesday on Place des Arts.

When finished, it'll feature a fixed-seating theatre, contemporary art gallery, and bistro and retail facilities. The building will also have office spaces and meetings rooms.

Services will be provided in French and English.

The estimated economic impact of the construction is about $18 million and should create 180 jobs over the two-year construction phase.
