A resident of Nipissing First Nation was killed Wednesday when she was involved in a collision at the intersection of Michaud Street and Queen Street in Sturgeon Falls.

Ontario Provincial Police were called at 4 p.m. to respond to a report that a motor vehicle had struck a motorized scooter.

The victim has been identified as Carmen Robidas, 78. The intersection was closed for approximately four hours as emergency responders dealt with the scene.

"The investigation is still ongoing and police are asking anyone with video surveillance, at or near that intersection, during or before that time frame, to contact the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP at 1-888-310-1122," police said.
