SUDBURY -- The trial involving Sudbury Christian extremist charged with promoting hate is beginning to wrap up.

72-year-old David Popescu is accused of promoting hate against homosexuals.

During the provincial election campaign in 2018, David Popescu allegedly called for former premier Kathleen Wynne to be put to death for being a lesbian.

Police then charged him with willfully promoting hatred against an identifiable group.

Popescu is defending himself in court, something that has led to many delays throughout the trial process because he has no legal training.

Justice Heather Ann Mendes says she needs time to review the evidence, so a decision is not expected following the closing arguments in the case on Friday.
