SUDBURY -- A 22-year-old woman from Chelmsford has been charged in connection with a June 16 stabbing on Camp 700, north of Cartier in Moncrieff Township.

The Nipissing West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received the call at 6:55 p.m. about the attack.

"Investigation revealed one person was stabbed by another person known to them," police said in a news release. "The victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body, was treated and released from hospital."

The suspect in the case was located and charged with the attack June 17.

The Chelmsford woman is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

She has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 19 in Sudbury.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
