SUDBURY -- Monday morning at 1:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call regarding an altercation that had taken place on Roosevelt Road, in the Municipality of Temagami.

A 21-year-old resident of Chelmsford suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported by Nipissing Emergency Medical Services to the hospital and airlifted by Ornge for medical care, police said in a news release.

The accused, Nicholas Hebert, a 21-year-old resident of North Bay, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He is being held and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in Temiskaming Shores.

Temiskaming OPP members, with the assistance of the OPP Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Services Unit, are continuing the investigation.
