Check of a parked car uncovers drugs and cash in West Nipissing

Police have arrested and charged two people after a traffic stop early Thursday morning in West Nipissing.

Ontario Provincial Police checked a parked vehicle on Front Street around 12:30 a.m.

“The driver provided police with a false name and both occupants were arrested after police observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle,” OPP said in a news release.

“A search of the vehicle located Canadian currency and drugs suspected to be cocaine, fentanyl and cannabis.”

A 35-year-old from Lavigne has been charged with obstructing police, driving with cannabis readily available and trafficking. A 35-year-old, also from Lavigne, is charged with two counts of drug possession.

Both accused were release and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Feb. 1 in North Bay.
