Car trouble in northern Ontario results in drug bust

Three northern Ontario residents are charged with drug trafficking after the vehicle they were in got stuck along a bush road off Highway 17 on Monday.
Officers were called to the vehicle located just outside of the Township of Marathon around 5:35 p.m. Sept. 16, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Tuesday.
"Throughout the interactions with the vehicle driver and passengers, a search of the vehicle was conducted which revealed suspected cocaine and methamphetamine pills," OPP said.

"The officers on-scene then engaged the Marathon OPP community street crime unit (CSCU) who began assisting in the investigation."
As a result, around 2:40 a.m. the next morning, police raided two homes in Marathon.
Between the car and the two homes, more than $40,000 in drugs were seized, including two pounds of cocaine,18 grams of heroin, 1,110 speed pills, and 320 methamphetamine pills. Nearly $1,000 in cash was also seized by police.

Three local residents, a 54-year-old man and two women in their 30s, are charged with drug offences.
The male suspect and a 33-year-old woman are both charged with two counts of selling cocaine and methamphetamine.
They were held for a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
A 35-year-old woman was released on charges of trafficking heroin and methamphetamine, having a small quantity of cocaine and being in possession of property obtained by crime.
She is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 16.
