SUDBURY -- Update 4:

Canada is out of the Women's World Cup after failing to score against Sweden in the knockout round. The Swedish team was able to clinch a spot in the quarter-final round with a 1-0 win.

Christine Sinclair takes a free kick after Beckie was fouled after more than 50 minutes of play that went wide.

Update 2:

The score is 0 - 0 after the first half of the Women's World Cup game between Canada and Sweden.

Update 1:

After 25 minutes of play, no one has scored.

Sudbury's Jenna Hellstrom has been seen warming up on the sidelines.

Hellstrom plays professional women's soccer in Sweden for KIF Örebro. She has yet to see any playing time in the 2019 Women's World Cup.

So far, the Canadians are leading ball posession and passing accuracy percentages.

The winner of this match advances to the quarter-finals and will play against Germany at 12:30 pm on Saturday.

After three days off, Canada’s national women’s soccer team will hit the pitch against Sweden in its first game of the World Cup’s second round of play.

Both teams finished second place after the first group round.

The last time these two teams played against each other was the Algarve Cup where they were vying for third place in that tournament. Canada ultimately took the win during a shootout.

In the FIFA World Rankings, Canada is currently fifth and Sweden is ninth.
