Bineshii Business Park coming to Nipissing First Nation

Share

Bineshii Business Park is expected to be completed in spring of 2024.

The commercial development project off Highway 17 west of North Bay on Nipissing First Nation will see 76 acres of land become 26 commercial and light industrial lots.

“We want to capitalize on the population within North Bay, the amount of business, the airport and all those things that are close by,” said Nipissing First Nation Chief Scott McLeod.

“To provide opportunities for businesses to expand in to our territory. We’re developing these lots so that they will have the infrastructure … wastewater, those types of things.”

There are already 14 new businesses operating on the land and a McLeod said plenty more are interested.

“We have everything from very small-scale businesses that are already operational, like gas stations and cannabis shops, the Anishawbek Education, Body of the KEB, they’re located there, as well,” he said.

“We’ve had interest from car dealerships, and other types of commercial ventures.”

The project budget is roughly $7 million. Funding is from both the province and federal government as well as Indigenous Services Canada.

“The $1 million from the province is being put into the ground,” said Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli.

“It is land clearing, creation of the lots, building the infrastructure to get to the lots.”
