In an upcoming City Council meeting in Sudbury, councillors Deb McIntosh and Geoff McCausland will present a motion that, if passed, will see city staff evaluating options for encouraging the development of small and tiny dwellings.

"We already have an affordable housing strategy and affordable housing community improvement plan. Staff have already created a new zoning for smaller homes for developers to use to create smaller subdivisions. So, this is looking at what future building will look like, and how we define tiny homes. And I think that will hopefully help to equip the development community with the tools necessary to address a changing market," said McCausland.

McCausland says he feels young people and seniors would benefit the most from the creation of tiny and small homes.
