6th person arrested in Markham woman’s death

A sixth suspect in the disappearance of a Markham woman has been arrested.

Yuk-Ying Anita Mui was reported missing by her family after they had not heard from her since 11 a.m. on August 9.

Later that day, her white 2024 Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle (SUV) was found near Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue in Toronto.

Burned human remains discovered in Parry Sound in the area of Avro Arrow Road and Highway 400 were reported to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) August 12.

The Office of the Chief Coroner identified the remains as those of Mui on August 21.

On Wednesday, York Regional Police arrested 19-year-old Javin Liu of Toronto on five charges including, manslaughter, accessory after the fact to murder, kidnapping, two counts of committing an indictable offence and possession of property obtained by crime.

To date, six people have been charged in the disappearance and murder of Yuk-Ying Anita MUI.

A Canada-wide warrant for first degree murder remains in effect for Zhixiong Marko Hu, a 47-year-old Markham man.
