Northern highways reopened after closed for bad weather

Highway 144 and Highway 11 were closed for several hours because severe weather conditions in northeastern Ontario on Wednesday.

The area was under a winter storm warning Wednesday with heavy snow and winds forecast.

Hwy. 144 was closed between Timmins and Cartier, while Highway 11 was closed between Champlain Street in North Bay and Gravel Road in Calvin Township.

Highway 11 was reopened around 4:30 p.m. and Highway 144 was reopened around 5 p.m.
