Attempted armed robbery in Hornepayne
Provincial police are searching for a suspect in an attempted robbery involving a firearm in Hornepayne.
Around 6:45 a.m. Saturday a man attempted to enter a pharmacy on Front Street in the small northern Ontario town located about 400 kilometres north of Sault Ste. Marie.
"When confronted by the owner, the suspect brandished a firearm demanding drugs and cash. The suspect fled the scene after police were called. Attempts were made to locate the suspect, but were unsuccessful," Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Detachment said in a news release Monday morning.
Police describe the suspect as being in his 30s and 5-foot-10 inches tall with a thin build. The suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, brown jacket, and light-coloured ball cap at the time of the incident.
Nothing was taken by the suspect in the incident and no one was injured, OPP spokesperson Trevor Tremblay told CTV News in an email.
