Greater Sudbury Utilities says they’ve received reports of a new scam in the area.

GSU says at least two businesses were threatened with disconnection Thursday, June 13 , if they did not come forth with money within a specific time frame at a parking lot .

Director of Communications for greater Sudbury Utilities, Wendy Watson, says “We urge all customers to be alert for attempted scams”.

Watson also advises customers not to disclose any personal information over the phone.

“Call the local number on your bill if you want to speak to someone about your account, “said Watson.

“Do not call the toll-free number they give you,  and do not go out and meet with anyone .”

Watson says if customers have any questions about their account, call GSU directly at 705-675-7536
