SUDBURY -- A Guelph woman is facing an assault charge following a strange incident involving hand sanitizer June 12 at a bank in Blind River.

In a news release, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to a call about an assault on Causley Street around 11:30 a.m. that day.

"Investigation determined an angry bank client emptied a bottle of hand sanitizer and threw the empty bottle, striking the manager," the release said. "The client then left in a vehicle in a westbound direction."

A short time later, police found the vehicle at a gas bar on the territory of Mississauga First Nation and arrested the bank client.

A 24 -year-old woman from Guelph is charged with assault and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Aug. 6.
