Alleged teenage sexual predator arrested in northern Ont.
A northern Ontario teen facing almost 20 serious charges in relation to alleged incidents that happened in Kapuskasing, Ont. over three years, police say.
On July 25 at about 11 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) units with the support of Timmins police, executed a warrant on Main Street in South Porcupine.
“One person was arrested on 19 outstanding criminal charges after (the) warrant was executed,” said police in a news release.
The warrant was related to alleged offences that happened between September 2020 and March 2023.
As a result of the police investigation, a 19-year-old from South Porcupine has been charged with:
- Three counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
- Sexual interference
- Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age
- Forcible confinement
- Assault
- Eight counts of failure to comply with an undertaking
- Failure to attend court
- Two counts of failure to attend court after having appeared
- Failure to attend for fingerprints
After being arrested, the accused was brought to the Kapuskasing OPP detachment as all of the alleged crimes occurred in Kapuskasing.
The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing on July 26 and is scheduled to appear in court in Kapuskasing on August 12.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
