ContactIan Campbell is a video journalist and occasional anchor based in Sudbury, Ontario.
Born with a nose for news and a habit for always asking the tough questions, it didn’t take long for Ian to find his calling in broadcast journalism. Having studied at Mohawk College and Laurentian University, he started his career in Sudbury radio in 2007 before moving onto an integrated radio/television newsroom in Calgary, Alberta.
Over an 8-year time span he was part of an award-winning news team in Calgary and spent time on the front lines covering some of Canada’s costliest natural disasters. He was one of the first to inform the city of a pending evacuation alert during the 2013 floods and reported nationally from Fort McMurray during the wildfire.
He enjoys covering stories on crime and politics, and was the point-person at his former bureau for some major murder cases and political elections that gripped the nation.
When he’s not in the newsroom, you can probably catch him at the local movie theatre, in the kitchen cooking or enjoying the great outdoors. He’s also a huge fan of Star Trek and anything out of this world since visiting Cape Canaveral as a child.
He enjoys giving back to his community and is an avid volunteer for several causes including Make a Wish and Dreams Take Flight.
Born in Hamilton and raised in Windsor, he considers the latter his hometown and travels to southern Ontario whenever possible to spend time with family.
