Brendan Connor has come full circle and has returned to his native Sudbury to co-anchor CTV News Northern Ontario at 6 p.m.

Brendan is a veteran broadcaster with over 20 years in the business and has worked for major news organizations like CBC Radio, CBC Television, TSN, Al Jazeera English and for IOC Television at various Olympics.

After starting out at CBC Radio as a news reporter and anchor, Brendan moved to TSN to anchor the nightly program ‘TSN Sportsdesk' for seven years. He later moved on to CBC Television in Toronto, where he anchored regular newscasts, and hosted interview programs on CBC Newsworld and on Newsworld International.

Having a keen interest in world news and international travel, Brendan jumped at an opportunity in 2006 to go work for Al Jazeera English.

After helping launch the channel in November, 2006, he worked around the world, covering news and sports events, and also anchored international news broadcasts.

Brendan's father, Michael Connor anchored the news at CTV Northern Ontario when it was CKSO-TV and was very respected in the community during his tenure in the 1960s and 1970s.

Brendan is also a published author and a teacher. He has written two books: 'SLAMDUNK: THE NBA IN CANADA' and 'THE BROADVIEW BOOK OF SPORTS ANECDOTES'. He also taught a graduate course in broadcasting at Sheridan College in the Toronto area from 2002 to 2005, sending numerous students into the TV business.

He taught tennis for a summer job as a teenager in Sudbury, and played high school basketball and football at Lockerby and at Sudbury Secondary School.

He has a degree in English Literature from Queen's University.
