Amanda Hicks
ContactAmanda Hicks is a videojournalist and occasional anchor based in Sudbury, Ont., who transferred from CTV News Barrie in October 2022.
She developed a passion for writing and storytelling early on. So it wasn't unusual to find her crafting fiction stories after school or pretending a hairbrush was a microphone.
Amanda graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts, Honours degree in Journalism. She got her start at York's radio station, VIBE 105, as a producer, gaining experience interviewing, hosting, editing and creating web content.
Over the years, Amanda has taken on numerous marketing roles where she gained experience with content writing, social media and all the intricacies of digital media.
She has been with various Bell Media properties for the last three years.
In 2019, she found herself back on the radio as a weekend news anchor with Pure Country 106 in Orillia and Bounce 104.1 in Midland. Two years later, she joined the CTV News Barrie as an operational floater with a keen interest in digital content.
Amanda is fluent in English and in her spare time, she enjoys hiking, travelling and spending time at her cottage.
