Serious assault in Moosonee under investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious assault in Moosonee, according to a news release Saturday.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers were called to a home on Bay Road in Moosonee.

On the scene, police located one person with serious injuries who was then transported to hospital.

“Investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety,” police said in the release.

However, the OPP reminds members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.

The investigation into the incident is on going.

“Residents of the area should expect to see a large police presence,” added police.

Since the investigation is in its early stages and police are not providing further details at this time.
