911 call leads to impaired driving charges on Hwy. 17 in Sudbury
A suspect from southern Ontario has been charged with impaired driving on Highway 17 in Sudbury after police were tipped off by a 911 call.
The tipster contacted police Aug. 7 shortly before noon, Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Thursday.
“The vehicle was travelling higher than the posted speed limit and passing vehicles in an unsafe manner,” the OPP said.
“Police located and stopped the vehicle, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and then transported to the Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing.”

A search of the vehicle located open liquor and cannabis. A 31-year-old from Tupperville is charged with two counts of impaired driving, dangerous driving and driving a vehicle with cannabis and open liquor readily available to the driver.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 4 in Sudbury.
The suspect’s driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
