SUDBURY -- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say 61-year-old Robert MacCollum succumbed to his injuries after hitting a rock-cut in Elliot Lake in the early morning hours of Nov.21.

Police were previously holding the identity of the deceased until they are able to notify the next of kin.

Officers from the East Algoma detachment and the Algoma Paramedic Services responded to a single-vehicle collision at Hillside Drive South and Highway 108.

MacCollum was transported to hospital where he later died.

The investigation will continue under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS).

A post mortem examination is scheduled for Nov. 23 in Sault Ste. Marie.
