Sudbury police have arrested and charged a 35-year-old local man with several child pornography-related offences.

Greater Sudbury Police Service says its Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation in May of 2019 about a person accessing, possessing, and making child pornography publically available on the internet.

Police say a search of a Sudbury residence was carried out on June 12 with help from the tactical unit. Computers and cell phones seized during the search were analyzed and found to be free of any child pornography evidence; however, a suspect was identified.

A second search was completed at a separate local residence later that same day and several computer and storage devices were seized. Police say a significant amount of child pornography images and videos were found on multiple devices.

The discovery resulted in a 35-year-old local man being arrested and charged with several child pornography-related offences.

He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Thursday, June 13 to answer to the charges, none of which have been proven in court.  All accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
