SUDBURY -- The 22 Wing Canadian Air Force Base North Bay is hosting a roadside food drive on Airport Road the morning of Dec. 8 and is advising motorist to expect delays.

Members of the 22 Wing and community volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items along with cash donations from 6:00 a.m. to 9 a.m. in support of the North Bay Food Bank.

This marks the tenth year 22 Wing has joined the My Team Cares campaign.  Formerly known as the Coach4Food Program, every dollar donated is equivalent to one pound of food.

“We regret any inconvenience these delays may cause,” officials said in a Dec. 5 Public Service Announcement.

The roadside food drive will take place on the street near the Air Defence Park and officials are asking those looking to donate to follow public health guidelines.

In an effort to provide contactless drop-offs, officials are requesting that all non-perishables food-items for donation be placed in the trunk of the vehicle, as so volunteers can remove the items from the trunk.

A table will be also be setup where people can deposit donated food items.

Cash donations will be collected by way of money cans that will be extended to the driver using a pole.
