Plans for this year's Armed Forces Day in North Bay are well underway and the event, scheduled for mid-June, is promising to be another high flying and entertaining celebration.

Armed Forces Day is something members at 22 Wing North Bay look forward to annually, but this summer's event will be particularly special.

The CF-18 demonstration and Skyhawks parachute team will be back in North Bay.

It also marks the North American Aerospace Defense Command's 60th anniversary.

Officials are hoping conditions this year will be more cooperative to allow for everyone to see both demonstrations...

Canadore College President George Burton was appointed as Honourary Colonel of 22 Wing North Bay in 2016.

"If you recall last year, the CF-18 could not do the evening show for the public and so luckily they committed to coming back this year and provide that experience to the broader community. And I can tell you, it's fantastic." said Burton.

Major John Verran of 22 Wing CFB North Bay says the NORAD partnership between Canada and the U.S. is significant.

"It's 60 years of a global partnership, the longest standing partnership between two nations, is a special time for us to celebrate." said Verran.
