SUDBURY – A young climate advocate in Sudbury is being honoured for her work.

Sophia Mathur received an award on November 13 from the Canadian Museum of Nature.

The award is given to people whose work connects Canadians with nature.

She also met with former Environment Minister Katherine McKenna.

Mathur has become known in the community for her Fridays for Future rallies against climate change.

With the award, Mathur was also give $5,000 to donate, and tell CTV she's thinking about splitting the funds between a local homeless shelter and an animal shelter.
